Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Great Strides Walk - SUGAR LAND, TEXAS
The Rand Group will participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Great Strides Walk to do our part in helping find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

Child Advocates Forgotten Children Program - HOUSTON, TEXAS
Child Advocates, Inc. is Houston's only Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. On any given day, 500,000 children in the US are living in foster care because they cannot live safely at home. But only half of these kids have someone who speaks out just for them—a Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA volunteer. Last year in Houston, 610 court appointed advocates served 1,782 children. Unfortunately, that left over 2,500 waiting for their own advocate. The program does not receive local United Way funds so Child Advocates rely heavily on gifts from people (and groups) for 80% of their budget. The Rand Group will make a contribution to Child Advocates, Inc to cover two children for a year in their Forgotten Children initiative.
