Navision
Microsoft Dynamics NAV (formerly Microsoft Business Solutions - Navision) targets emerging
and middle market companies with a business system which
integrates financial management, analytics and reporting,
human resources and payroll, supply chain management (including
robust manufacturing and warehouse distribution modules),
project management, and customer relationship management
as pieces of a single, unified application. Like other Business
Solutions products, Dynamics NAV features ease of deployment
and configuration, and companies can license the exact functionality
needed, with the option of adding users and additional features
at a later date.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV is unique from the other Business Solutions products in that:
- provides developers with the source code, thus enabling the software to be modified to satisfy any business process.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV has a familiar Microsoft application user interface and is easy to use and maintain. It has very strong multi-national capabilities and is ideal for subsidiaries and divisions of large global conglomerates. Among other core competencies:
- Financial Management- Provides detailed financial management options that range from general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable modules to bank reporting, cash flow management, and electronic reconciliation.
- Sales and marketing - Synchronize sales, marketing, and ordering with Microsoft Office productivity tools, such as Microsoft Outlook. Contact, task, meeting, and e-mail information appear directly within Dynamics NAV. In addition, real-time information about contacts can help identify key accounts and target marketing efforts.
- Distribution - Helps small and midsize businesses streamline distribution processes and improve inventory management and warehouse efficiency. Key capabilities include item tracking, multiple location logistics, bills of materials, transfers, item substitutions, and warehouse management ranging from internal picking to shipping and delivery.
- Manufacturing - Like all functionality within Dynamics NAV, can be tailored to support the exact needs of a manufacturing business. Has broad functionality that supports build-to-order, engineer-to-order, and build-to-forecast supply chain models.
- Connect Business Processes Across Technologies - Using the XML document exchange feature, Dynamics NAV streamlines processes, helping to communicate with supply chain partners more quickly and effectively, regardless of their internal systems. In addition, Dynamics NAV uses extensible business reporting language (XBRL) to export financial reports across all applications and technologies to streamline the exchange of financial data.
- Integration - View and share data from within Microsoft Office applications and because all components are integrated, information can be automatically shared across applications.
Because Microsoft Dynamics NAV is such a powerful, flexible solution, the successful implementation of the system depends heavily on the consultants to fully understand client business requirements and to properly execute the configuration, development, and testing of the design. The Rand Group has developed a proprietary methodology which minimizes project risk and ensures a smooth transition to a new system. Planned change management activities help users develop the necessary aptitude to carry out job responsibilities. Many current Dynamics NAV clients chose to work with The Rand Group after unsuccessful implementations or unsatisfactory support with another consulting partner.
TRG has a property management solution featuring Dynamics NAV, but also have clients successfully leveraging Dynamics NAV to support and improve their businesses in the services, manufacturing, and distribution industries. For more information contact The Rand Group at sales@randgrp.com |
