+ Surveying the Project
Prometheus planned to go-live with a new financial system at the beginning of a new calendar year and their Microsoft partner was struggling to complete the necessary conversion of historical data. Additionally, some custom functionality which was promised had not yet been delivered. Microsoft Navision had been selected to handle the 250+ number of properties Prometheus had under management and the flexible financial reporting and integration capabilities with existing property applications made Navision the choice for a backend business financial system.

+ Drafting the Blueprint
Upon recommendation from Microsoft, Prometheus turned to The Rand Group (TRG) to complete the conversion and to deliver the requested custom functionality. With the number of its clients electing to change consulting partners to TRG, a methodology had been put in place to ease client transitions. During assessment of the Prometheus database, TRG discovered additional existing flaws with the functionality.

+The Architecture: Microsoft Building Blocks
Prometheus had selected Microsoft Navision to be their back-end financial property management system. Navision is a powerful enterprise application with broad and deep functionality, but understanding property management financial requirements was imperative. TRG has a complete Microsoft-based property management solution which helped with identifying the Prometheus issues.

+ The Rand Group Expertise
TRG began their work by reviewing the work to date and documented the existing modifications made to accommodate financial property management needs. With a team of business consultants and certified Navision developers, TRG was able to make recommendations on how to resolve the outstanding system issues. Additional enhancements included the addition of departmental reporting and construction job budgeting and costing.

= Measurable Results
TRG was able to format the data extracts from the legacy Prometheus DOS system to complete the conversion for Navision. Custom financial reports were created to immediately produce the desired format for property owners. Requisition data was imported into Navision to track purchasing information for each property. Job costing functionality eliminated the disparate Excel spreadsheets which were previously being used in the organization.
