BLUEPRINT: STALLION OILFIELD SERVICES
THE EFFICIENCY EQUATION
The Building Partner
The Building Partner Stallion Oilfield Services is a dynamic expanding provider of a host of oilfield services. Key business lines include accommodations, support services, equipment rentals, and solids
control. Stallion is growing rapidly throughout the western United States via organic growth as well as acquisitions.
+ Surveying the Project
Stallion's small business accounting system (Quickbooks) in place was at the limits of its capability and could not support their intended growth. Stallion's CFO had worked with Great Plains before and knew it could support his current and future needs. He desired a strong systems foundation that would scale with the addition of new locations and business lines and allow adoption of portal and workflow technology when appropriate.
+ Drafting the Blueprint
Stallion turned to Microsoft and The Rand Group to assist in laying that foundation. After a thorough business process review concerning current needs and future growth plans, TRG developed a plan to implement Great Plains and other key Microsoft technology to support Stallion's growth. The system had to be put in place quickly, data converted from Quickbooks, and additional features brought online in the midst of ongoing acquisitions.
+ The Microsoft Building Blocks
Great Plains and additional Microsoft products formed the core of the new system. Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains running on SQL Server provided the ease of data access and integration Stallion required to assimilate acquisitions and to integrate automatically with their vertical line of business application for equipment management.
Great Plains "out-of-the-box" Business Portal site provided management with key performance metrics with the option to add more functionality as Stallion grows. It also reduced the costs of growth, by providing employees with online access to payroll and human resources data thereby deferring addition of headcount at the corporate office. Increasing integration with Microsoft Office reduced learning curve on key processes and smoothed the path for system adoption.
+ The Rand Group Expertise
The Rand Group team of CPA's and certified developers replaced QuickBooks in a rapid deployment in the midst of ongoing acquisitions. The Great Plains system retained existing functionality, added a range of rich new features, and allowed rapid integration with a specialized rental application critical to Stallion's continued growth.
= Measurable Results
Microsoft Great Plains coupled with the power of SQL Server allows Stallion to add multiple companies without a corresponding jump in corporate headcount. Presentation of KPI's and automatic notification of exceptions via Great Plains Business Alerts allowed Stallion to grow rapidly without a corresponding increase in administrative cost. Stallion grew in size (both headcount & revenue) in excess of fourfold without adding significant additional administrative costs. |
